HAYS TALENT SOLUTIONS LEADS TEAMS TO VICTORY IN THE FIRST EVER CONTINGENT WORKFORCE HACKATHON

Whether it’s addressing falling profits or skills shortages it can difficult to create a compelling business case that addresses complex business problems. Attendees at the Contingent Workforce Strategies (CWS) Summit 2016, in Las Vegas, did exactly that.

CWS Summit is the premier event for HR and Procurement professionals to connect and learn more about the future of non-permanent labour, talent acquisition strategies and best practices to manage contingent workers. At the event groups of attendees were given just an hour and half, as part of the inaugural Contingent Workforce Hackathon, to develop a solution to one of the following challenges associated with getting the most from a flexible workforce:
• How to implement a total talent management program;
• Expand a contingent workforce program globally;
• Developing a human cloud sourcing strategy to, and;
• Implementing a formal contingent workforce program at a large technology company.

Team captains were assigned to facilitate the development of submittals, before entering them for review. Entries for each case study were then judged by an independent panel for their creativity and effectiveness. Hays Talent Solutions, captained three teams, and included representatives from American Airlines, Esso, Target and Best Buy, winning two of their three categories.

As the first event of its kind I wasn’t sure what to expect from a hackathon, but it was great to see the innovation and ideas that can come from this approach” said Matthew Dickason, Global Managing Director of Hays Talent Solutions. “Supporting clients to overcome these kinds of challenges is what we do at Hays Talent Solutions, and captaining two of the winning teams is of course a great testament to this. I encourage anyone looking to improve the performance of their workforce programmes to take this collaborative approach when developing their own internal business case.”
